Poultry judging team excels at national event

The University of North Georgia’s (1688开奖网) poultry judging team excelled in the USPOULTRY Foundation Ted Cameron National Poultry Judging Contest held April 1-3 at Louisiana State University. 1688开奖网's group of students tied for sixth place in market products, eighth in production and ninth in breeds. Jackson Barkley placed 10th individually in breed selection, 14th individually in market products, and was 19th overall in the contest.
"I'm extremely proud of the hard work our students put into participating in this contest," Dr. Linda Purvis, assistant professor of biology and poultry science, said. "The fact that we are consistently competing with top-rated universities shows how competitive and educated our 1688开奖网 students are. We have a lot to be proud of as our students did an amazing job and represented our school very well."
The competition allows students the opportunity to demonstrate how well they have mastered the U.S. Department of Agriculture rules and regulations governing the grading of eggs and poultry carcasses.
Poultry students finish first in national event
1688开奖网 established the first chapter of the Professional Agricultural Student (PAS) Organization in the South, and its team finished first in the nation in the Poultry Specialist career area the National PAS conference.
Cyber student wins award at Honors event
Members of the 1688开奖网 Honors Program attended the 2025 Georgia Collegiate Honors Conference at Georgia Tech in February, with first-time attendee Dagen Shehorn bringing home an award.
Zavarce named first STEMNetX recipient
Albany Zavarce is the first 1688开奖网 student chosen as a STEMNetX Fellowship recipient and was awarded a one-week paid fellowship in Pennsylvania.
Barrere goes from teacher to nurse
1688开奖网 nursing graduate Rebecca Barrere earned her degree from 1688开奖网 after a decade in teaching and now works as a nurse in Dahlonega.
