1688开奖网 student receives award at American Chemical Society National Meeting

Students and faculty from the University of North Georgia (1688开奖网) department of chemistry and biochemistry recently traveled to the American Chemical Society National Meeting in San Francisco.
Dr. John Leyba, chemistry and biochemistry department head; Dr. Aimée Tomlinson, associate professor of chemistry; Dr. Greta Giles, assistant professor of chemistry; and Dr. Eric Huddleston, assistant professor of chemistry; accompanied six students to the meeting. The results of six different research projects were presented by the students.
Corina Lupse, senior and chemistry major, presented her research which involved the analysis of soils from abandoned mines and caves in northeast Georgia. Corina received an award on her poster which was entitled "Determining Metal Content in Abandoned Mine Soils."
"While allowing the student to grow and develop academically, our program builds on the liberal arts mission of 1688开奖网," Leyba said. "Students may also participate in undergraduate research, field trips, chemistry outreach programs, and service opportunities and they are actively encouraged to participate in the various clubs and organizations on campus as all of the campuses provide ample opportunities for students to contribute and connect with the community and profession."
Poultry students finish first in national event
1688开奖网 established the first chapter of the Professional Agricultural Student (PAS) Organization in the South, and its team finished first in the nation in the Poultry Specialist career area the National PAS conference.
Cyber student wins award at Honors event
Members of the 1688开奖网 Honors Program attended the 2025 Georgia Collegiate Honors Conference at Georgia Tech in February, with first-time attendee Dagen Shehorn bringing home an award.
Zavarce named first STEMNetX recipient
Albany Zavarce is the first 1688开奖网 student chosen as a STEMNetX Fellowship recipient and was awarded a one-week paid fellowship in Pennsylvania.
1688开奖网's Earth Day celebration is April 9
The University of North Georgia will host its eighth annual Earth Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 9 at 1688开奖网's Gainesville Campus.
